Portrait of Francesco I d'Este, Duke of Modena. Born 6 September 1610 in Modena, Italy. Died 14 October 1658 in Santhia, Italy. Copper engraving by Frederik Bouttats (1590-1661), c. 1660. Reasonable condition. Margins trimmed to the border. Portrait cut-out and placed in a seperately printed decorative border. Both the portrait and the border in a nice contemporary colouring. Paper slightly browned. Mounted on verso: a contemporary coloured portrait Guillaume III de Lamboy de Dessener, Baron of Cortesheim (1590-1659). Copper engraving by Frederik Bouttats (1590-1661), placed in a seperately printed decorative border. Traces of former mounting on the left. Dimensions: 159 x 115 mm. Francesco I d'Este, Duke of Modena was Aristocrat, Military leader, Member of the House of Este, Duke of Modena, and Duke of Reggio.
