Portrait of Pyrrhus of Epirus. Born c. 319 BC. Died 272 BC in Argos, Greece. Etching and Engraving by Theodoor Galle (1571-1633), 1606. Good condition. Paper with ample margins. A nice strong and early impression. Paper slightly browned and slightly soiled, with some browning along edges and some minor creasing. Verso: blank. Note: dimensions reflect the plate mark. Dimensions: 140 x 104 mm. Pyrrhus of Epirus was Statesman, King, Military leader, King of Epirus, King of Macedonia, Tyrant of Syracuse, One of the strongest opponents of early Rome, One of the greatest generals of antiquity, and The term "Pyrrhic victory" is derived from him.
