Portrait of Henry Bennet, 1st Earl of Arlington. Born 30 January 1618 in Little Saxham, England. Died 28 July 1685 in Euston, England. Etching and Engraving by Jacob Houbraken (1698-1780), after Peter Lely (1618-1680), 1789. Reasonable condition. Rather short margins on the sides. Paper slightly browned and a bit soiled, with some minor faint spotting. With a tiny hole in the lower margin, a pinhole in the upper left corner of the margin and a small tear in the upper margin (none affecting the image). Some minor creasig. Verso: blank. Note: a rare British imprint by J.&R. Knapton, London, 1789. Dimensions: 359 x 227 mm. Henry Bennet, 1st Earl of Arlington was Scholar, Poet, Statesman, Secretary, Secretary of State, Earl, Knight in the Order of the Garter, 1st Earl of Arlington, Secretary to James II of England, Keeper of the Privy Purse, and Postmaster General.
