" Ticket Stub that is a true-candidate for ... both ! one of the " Neatest " ! - and also one of the " Most-Significant "!! - as this Grateful Dead 1991-1992 New Year's Eve Show was-indeed ... the Last & Final ! " New Year's Eve ! " Show that The Grateful Dead would ever-play !!! And ... this decision had really nothing to do with the Grateful Dead themselves - as the Band was still running way-strong ! all things considered. But, what it had pretty much everything ' to ' do with - was Bill Graham. As the same great man that was so quintessential in helping build the Grateful Dead to all that they could be ... he was also really " The " key-ingredient to the initial creation, and the ongoing year-after-year " Magic ! " of the overall Artform of what was a Grateful Dead " New Years Eve " Show ! Bill's untimely, and terribly sad passing in the Fall of 1991 left the Grateful Dead on the fence, as for whether or not they should even go-through with this 1991-1992 " New Years " Celebration. That, and too ... the fact that they had also just cancelled late Summer '92 dates, and the entire Fall '92 Tour - due to Jerry Garcia becoming too ill to perform. But, for the Grateful Dead Fans - they did it - and ... if you've heard this Show yourself, it almost seems like nothing is really wrong. But, at the same time ... if you ' saw ' this Show, then - it just didn't seem quite-right ... without Bill Graham. No longer dressed as an Eagle, inside a Cake, as a Witch Doctor, of even too ... riding in on a Joint ! Ha ! So ... the Grateful Dead made the collective decision as a Band, to put " New Years " Celebrations to rest ... because they could never-ever be the same without Bill Graham, in their minds. An " Ultimate " Showing of the utmost in respect ... for sure. So, what we have here ... is in fact - " The Last & Final " Grateful Dead " New Year's Eve ! " Ticket ever-issued ... for the Last-Ever ! Grateful Dead New Year's Eve Show in Oakland, California on December 31, 1991. And really too ... this Ticket " Design " was also one of the All-Time Coolest ! of all the Grateful Dead " New Years " Tickets ever issued. And, who knows ... as maybe part of this was the Grateful Dead well in advance knowing that this would be their last shot, to issue a Super-Cool ! " New Years " Ticket - and, as the photos well show ... my goodness, did they ever ! A Grateful Dead Psychedelic Skeleton ! - with directional " Foil " squares all-throughout the center area of the Ticket ... that appear, dissappear, and reappear - depending on which way you hold & turn the Ticket ! Almost sort of like one of those Baseball Cards and/or Coins in the 1980's, that would sort of ' move ' and/or ' change ' as you would turn the piece in your hand ! Way-Way ! Cool ... to say the very-least - Check out the Photos !!! Super-Cool !!!!! And, as solid New Year's Show too, as I remember quite-well - being the last ... Bucket ! to open ( so appropriately ... ) - Candyman - BIODTL - It Must Have Been The Roses - B.T. Wind - West L.A. - Masterpiece - and then ... a pretty-massive ... Help > Slip > Franklin's !!! to close-up Set I ... Whoa ?!! NFA just Smoked ! out of the starting-gates in Set II - with the Whole ! Celebration thing in full-effect ( gotta Love Oaktown ! ) - then a Sweet ! Eyes > Estimated - then Drums / Space > Other One !!! - a heartfelt Wharf Rat, into ... you-guessed-it, and so-did Bill ! ... Sugar Magnolia !!! Bill's All-Time Favorite ! Grateful Dead Song !! And then, before you even knew it, or could catch your breath - or even get your head-straight ... " Knockin' On Heaven's Door ". Wow ... an emotional ending, to say the very-least.
