This took us several hours to determine where these images were first printed. We are 99% sure they were included in the 1881 book entitled "Pictorial History of the Great Civil War" by John Laird Wilson. They are original and we are estimating they were most likely framed between 1890-1910. This item seems a little scarce to us, for the simple reason the Cavalry has never received the attention from historians that the infantry has. The wood frame is in good condition despite it's age. The cardboard is slightly loose with a few of the original nails still intact. We would not recommend hanging it as-is. The glass is in EX condition without cracks or chips. We have cleaned the front with glass wipes. We were able to take a little peek under the backing and noticed some very old tattered discolored paper. The frame measures 15 x 10.
