Description
Offered here is an extremely rare early park map from the opening era of SeaWorld Orlando , dating to approximately 1973–1974 . What makes this example especially unusual is that it is not the standard tourist map , but rather the educational program version used for school groups , clearly marked with the bold red stamp: “EXPLORATION BREACH – 9 AM TO 1 PM – INCLUDES CIRCLED EXHIBITS ONLY WITH SHOW TIMES LISTED ABOVE.” The Exploration Breach program was SeaWorld’s early educational initiative designed for student groups visiting the park. Teachers and chaperones were given specially marked maps like this one to guide students through a curated schedule of marine-education exhibits and shows. The map also includes hand-drawn style circles identifying the approved exhibits , including: Whale & Dolphin Special Education Show Seal & Penguin Special Education Show Marine Aquarium Lunch / storage area for school groups These markings were printed specifically for the program itinerary, making this a distinct variant of the park map rather than a regular guest edition. Early SeaWorld Historical Features This map captures SeaWorld Orlando in its earliest years after the park opened in December 1973 , showing many of the original attractions and sponsor exhibits that defined the park’s early identity. Highlights include: Whale & Dolphin Stadium Seal & Penguin Stadium Marine Aquarium Japanese Village pearl divers exhibit Hawaiian Punch Village Union 76 “World of the Sea” exhibit Perhaps most interesting to collectors, the map also clearly marks the future location of the iconic SeaWorld Orlando Sky Tower with the text: “Sky Tower Site (Summer ’74)” This notation dates the map to before the tower opened , placing it firmly in the first year of park operations . Why This Map Is Rare Several factors make this piece particularly collectible: • Early 1973–1974 SeaWorld Orlando park map • Educational program edition rather than public guest version • Printed before the Sky Tower opened in 1974 • Shows the park during its original attraction lineup • Ephemera that was typically discarded after school visits Early SeaWorld Orlando material is far less common than Disney or Universal ephemera from the same era, making pieces like this very difficult to locate today . Features • Original SeaWorld Orlando park map brochure • Early Exploration Breach educational program edition • Shows Sky Tower site (Summer ’74) • Printed show schedule and educational routing for school groups • Early park attractions and sponsor exhibits displayed • Authentic 1970s theme park ephemera • Condition Summary: Fair vintage condition with staining, fold wear, creases, and small holes visible. Shipping & Returns • Free US Shipping • 30 day returns (must be returned in original condition)
