Vintage Framed Pressed Edelweiss Flowers & Four Leaf Clover Art Symbolic for True Love, bravery, strength and sacrifice. The edelweiss flower grows in the Alps and comes with a long list of historic & folkloric significance. In 1861, author Berthold Auerbach narrated a story of a brave young man who risks his life to collect this rare flower for his lover as an act of true love. In WW1, the edelweiss was granted to the German alpine troops for their bravery. In WW2 an edelweiss flower was worn on the sleeve and caps of the mountain infantry troops. Another interesting tidbit is the superstitious belief that burning the flower as incense will rid all evil spirits from your home. Four leaf clovers are considered a rare mutation that occurs approximately 1 in every 10,000 which is why they’re considered lucky. Minor surface scratches and some tarnishing may be present to the frame due to preowned condition. No chipping or fractures to the glass.
