About the Author- About The Author: George Thomas Bettany (1850-1891) was an English biologist and anthropologist born in Penzance, Cornwall. Bettany edited several scientific series and served as the English editor for Lippincott's Monthly Magazine. He authored numerous books and contributed to various journals, including the Dictionary of National Biography.
