Description
FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE....! Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a retired antiques dealer. Vintage cut crystal and sterling silver swan bowl / dish that was found being used as a sugar bowl. Suited for use as a trinket catch all or to serve a condiment. The wings are pierced and articulated, moving side to side. One wing is stamped as illustrated, "Sterling, West Germany", hallmarked "AB" in a circle. Research came up with the maker associated with this mark, "August Betz, Schwabisch Gmund". Sitting on a table, it stands 4 3/4 inches tall while measuring it from the chest to the tail feathers, 5 1/4 inches across. Previously owned, it remains in good used condition. No chips or cracks in the crystal while the silver component remains free of dents or repairs. Black with tarnish when found, it has only been lightly polished. I have inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size. MUCH OBLIGED
This stunning vintage crystal and sterling silver swan is a true treasure! The delicate pierced wings move gracefully, adding a touch of elegance. Perfect as a sugar bowl, condiment dish, or even a trinket holder—it’s both functional and beautiful. The West Germany “AB” hallmark confirms its quality craftsmanship. A unique find from Madeira that adds charm to any table!
