Please note that the original optical drive has been removed. This console has been meticulously prepped and serves as an excellent, high-quality base for your custom projects or restoration. [ Power Supply Heat Mitigation ] When the optical drive is removed, the 12V rail on the power supply can overheat. To prevent this, I have securely inserted a high-durability 2W 1k ohm metal oxide resistor directly into the power supply connector. It is positioned with proper clearance to ensure optimal heat dissipation. Note: This resistor is securely plugged in, but NOT soldered. This makes it incredibly easy to remove by hand if you ever want to change the setup. [ Included Accessories: Mounting Screws ] I have included the three original screws used to secure the GD-ROM drive. Please note that if you are planning to install an internal ODE (Optical Drive Emulator) or similar solid-state upgrade, these screws are not required for the installation. They are provided so you have everything needed for any future setup. [ Perfect for Two Types of Buyers ] 1. For Custom Solid-State Projects: With the 12V heat issue already safely resolved, this console is 100% drop-in ready for your internal upgrade projects. If you wish to install an original Sega GD-ROM drive to restore it to stock condition, simply pull out the 1k ohm resistor by hand and use the included screws to mount your drive.
