Seiko D229-5010 Alarm Chronograph Vintage JDM Digital LCD Watch, 37.8mm, Original Stainless Steel Bracelet, Fully Running — Japan Market This is a genuine Japan-market Seiko D229-5010 Alarm Chronograph, a prized survivor from Seiko's landmark era of early LCD digital watchmaking. The watch carries the distinctive tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measuring 37.8mm wide and 8.4mm thick — a slim, flat profile that wears incredibly well on the wrist and would look right at home in any serious vintage digital collection. The black LCD display is sharp and fully active, showing day, date, and running time across all four modes: Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch, and Time. All four bottom pushers respond normally, and the right-side crown is intact and functional for Sound On/Off and Set operations. The watch is running. The dial face retains the original "Alarm Chronograph" text and the signature teal/cyan function labels — SELECT/LIGHT, START/STOP, SOUND ON/OFF, and SET — all present and legible. The caseback is engraved with full Seiko factory markings: WATER RESISTANT, serial number 192831 (indicating an August 1981 manufacture date), JAPAN-M, PDP ST. STEEL BACK, and module reference D229-5010. This watch is fitted with a stainless steel straight-link president-style bracelet stamped "STAINLESS STEEL-3" on the clasp — a period-correct style that pairs well with the tonneau case. Condition: This is a vintage watch approximately 40+ years old and shows honest, meaningful wear that must be understood before purchasing. The caseback shows heavy circular scratching across most of the surface. The case sides show clear pitting, surface oxidation, and discoloration, particularly visible on one side where there is a reddish-brown discolored patch indicative of surface corrosion. The crown shows wear to its knurling. The bracelet links show brushed surface scratching throughout and some tarnishing on individual links. The LCD crystal has light surface marks but the display remains legible and bright. All functions operate.
