Portrait of Tiberius Hemsterhuis. Born 9 January 1685 in Groningen, The Netherlands. Died 7 April 1766 in Leiden, The Netherlands. Mezzotint after Jan Palthe (1717-1769), c. 1760. Reasonable condition. Rather short margins. Paper slightly soiled. With a diagonal 'printer's crease' on the left part, affecting the image. Verso: blank, with traces of former mounting. Dimensions: 315 x 251 mm. Tiberius Hemsterhuis was Writer, Professor, Philologist, Professor of mathematics at the University of Amsterdam, and Professor of Greek at the University of Franeker.
