Bottom autograph is HAND SIGNED by Maxie Anderson "DOUBLE EAGLE" balloonist ~FIRST ATLANTIC OCEAN CROSSING~ Please see photos. Very good condition. DOUBLE EAGLE - Signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph by MAXIE ANDERSON. Ben Abruzzo (1930-1985), Maxie Anderson (1934-1983) and Larry Newman (1947-2010), were the pilots of the first balloon to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1978. The composite image depicts the balloon in flight, a map charting the route of the flight and an image of the three crew members in together. The photo is signed in blue ball point pen on the bottom image by Maxie Anderson and is inscribed to "Richard". The photo also features "facsimile" signatures of each of the crew but Maxie Andersons signature is authentic. Autographs of Maxie Anderson are scarce following his untimely death in a flying accident in 1983. This unique item is a signed piece exemplifying the ingenuity of humanity. The signature belongs to the pioneering balloonist Maxie Anderson, and the item is titled "DOUBLE EAGLE". This piece is an original and was produced in the United States. It is a wonderful addition to any collection of Science or Inventor memorabilia as well as for Autograph collectors.
