Fair Winds Covered Butter Dish Alfred Meakin Brown Transferware England 8.5" HTF. Rare and hard to find Fair Winds oval butter dish with separate lid featuring historic "Sailor's Farewell" image in brown transferware on white background. 6 3/4" long, 4 1/8", and 1 1/2" high (to top of lid. ). Rare and hard to find Fair Winds oval butter dish with separate lid featuring historic "Sailor's Farewell" image in brown transferware on white background. Part of the Fair Winds collection of dinnerware from Alfred Meakin featuring Early American historic images of nautical scenes and ships in US and China trade. Butter dish measures approx. 8 1/2" long, 5 3/4" wide and 3/4" high; lid measures approx. 6 3/4" long, 4 1/8", and 1 1/2" high (to top of lid. Made in Staffordshire, England. Both pieces in excellent condition - no chips, cracks or utensil marks. Some very faint crazing (in white areas) on dish and lid, but nothing very obvious; slight manufacturing flaw in very slightly skewed oval dish shape, hard to discern readily, but none of these issues detract from overall function or appeal. Priced accordingly. A rare butter dish and lid to use to serve butter or other condiments (pickles, perhaps?), perfect for seasonal holiday entertaining in summer, winter or autumn (Thanksgiving), to display and enjoy as decor, or to give as a welcome gift from a very popular dinnerware series in a hard to find and much sought-after shape!
