Saniteks d.d. from Velika Kladuša, a town in the northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was one of the leading manufacturers of medical and hygiene products in the country. Founded in 1962, it built a strong reputation and exported over 50% of its production to European Union markets. After being taken over in 2016 by Athabasca Investment d.o.o., a company linked to the Prevent Group, Saniteks gradually declined. Production was officially halted in 2022, assets were sold off, and workers were left without jobs, many engaging in legal battles. Today, Saniteks is often cited as a prime example of poor privatization and mismanagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
