Description

Rare Set of (2) Original Bernhard Rohne Acid-Etched Brass Wall Panels Up for sale is a stunning paired set of vintage metallic art by renowned German-Canadian artist Bernhard Rohne. These pieces were acquired from a high-end estate and represent the early, highly collectible period of his Metallic Design Studio in North Vancouver. Piece 1: "Sea Monster Legend" (MD 309) • Dimensions: 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" • Subject: A sophisticated interpretation of Pacific Northwest Indigenous iconography. • Details: Features a vibrant, iridescent patina created through Rohne’s signature acid-oxidation process. It remains in its original frame with the original studio label intact on the reverse. Piece 2: Signed Geometric Abstract (1972) • Dimensions: 6" x 6" • Subject: A hand-worked geometric abstract design. • Details: This is an exceptionally early and desirable piece, hand-signed and dated "72" by the artist directly in the metal. It also features the original Metallic Design Studio backing and label. Condition: Both pieces are in very good vintage condition. • Surface: There is some light surface scratching consistent with age. This is primarily visible upon close inspection or under a jeweler's loupe and does not distract from the overall "fire" and color of the etching. • Photography: I have provided high-resolution photos with multiple angles. Please zoom in to see the fine details of the etching and the light surface wear. • Framing: Both frames are original and sturdy. Backing paper and studio labels are present. Why this set? Bernhard Rohne is a pioneer of metallic acid-etching. Finding a matched pair with shared provenance—including a hand-signed early work from 1972—is a rare opportunity for serious Mid-Century Modern (MCM) and Brutalist art collectors.
