Antique Fraternal Sword Of The Lodge Of The Militant Patriarchs IOOF Engraved Engraved with name "W.A. Haines" Made by M.C. Lilley & Co., Columbus, Ohio. 35.5" long In good condition. Beautiful details. Patriarchs Militant (Uniformed Ranks of the IOOF) society or lodge sword. It comes with the scabbard and is identifiable because of the globe-shaped pommel and the motto "Pax aut Bellum" (Peace or War) which are usually found etched on the sword blade. The Patriarchs Militant fraternal order was first established in the United States circa 1841 and continues to this day. They are a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). All proceeds benefit patients in hospice care.
