That it will be even better than our first — Better in listening enjoyment — Better in sound — and most important of all — Better in its spiritual uplifting of the heart and mind of each listener. Wise, in Southwestern Virginia, is the home of the Messengers Quartet. Each member of the group works at a regular occupation during the week, but when the week-end comes it is off to gospel singings for the entire week-end. Leroy Graham, baritone, starts up the VW bus that we travel in, and makes the round gathering up the other members of the group. First he picks up Veldon Dotson, bass, and then goes by to pick up Bob Stanley, tenor, and Lacele Stanley, lead. Then on to Jenkins, Kentucky to get Phyllis Pike, pianist, and Claude Young, guitarist. Long hard miles are traveled by the group each weekend. Many times only a few hours of much needed sleep is obtained before Monday morning work time rolls around. However all the hardships are over- shadowed and forgotten when the quartet stands before an audience and begins to sing about the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This brings a ful- fillment and reward that cannot be surpassed because each member is singing about One whom they know and love. Therefore it is the prayer of the Messengers Quartet that if you have never experienced this over- flowing love of Christ the Savior, that as you listen to the songs on this album you will come to know and love Him too, remembering words that came from His lips when He said, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
