1844 Boston Bill of Lading Ship Excel New York Maritime Document

$ 47.52

Country of Origin: United States

Description

Original handwritten 1844 bill of lading for the schooner Excel, documenting coastal trade from Boston to New York during the pre-Civil War era. Signed by Master F. J. Lovell and shipped by Wm. H. Goddard to Foster & Livingston, known New York merchants of the period. The document records 14 cases of merchandise and one package of samples, with the reverse identifying the goods as quilts and cotton — a wonderful snapshot of early American commercial shipping. Original shipping marks appear in the margin and would have matched the crates for port identification. A scarce survivor of 19th-century maritime commerce and a desirable piece for collectors of nautical history, early American documents, or mercantile material. Good antique condition with expected age toning. Please review photos carefully for condition and detail. Date: October 23, 1844 Ship: Schooner Excel Route: Boston to New York Cargo: Quilts & cotton goods ⸻ ✨ Thank you for taking a look!
